Salem Fisherman Rescued From North River: Reports

SALEM, MA — A man fishing along the North River needed a rescue from Salem emergency crews Wednesday morning after getting stuck in the mud, according to multiple reports.

Reports said the man was on the North River by Franklin Street during low tide when he sunk in too deep.

The social media emergency alert account North Shore Incidents said the man became trapped in the river's muddy tidal flats.

WHDH-TV's Victoria Price reported that the man sunk up to almost his waist and fire crews had to use plywood planks to create a path out to him so they could pull him out of the mud before the tide came back in.

The station said medical crews examined him on shore and he did not suffer serious issues.
