Salem High School Starts Locking Its Doors During The Day
Salem High School issued an order to lock its previously open doors.
About a week ago, Salem High School's newly turned over administration began the doors during the school day.
Previously, the only door that had been attended to was the front. It was secured in the duration of the school day, but the others were left unguarded. Among Salem High School students, truancy is a high occurrence. These doors were notorious as ways for the students to come and from school as they pleased. Often even propping them open for others. Even with having a police officer careening around the school, Salem High School still had it's fair share of students cutting class.
The order came from the alert that arose from the fact that students were gaining passage through the door that gave entrance to the daycare center. Who cared for the students' and faculty's babies and children during the day.
Former Salem High School Principal attempted to install cameras in the school but was shot down by administration.
We have to ask ourselves, is this really protection for our kids. How can the school not put in the effort to lock its doors or have the money to install a system to promote security.
