Salem High School Students Reschedule Walkout To Friday

Students had planned to participate in a national school walkout at 10 am Wednesday.

SALEM, MA -- Wednesday's snow day means students at many Massachusetts schools will be unable to participate in a national walkout Wednesday to respond to the Parkland, FL school shooting that killed 17. Students at Salem High School have decided to conduct the walkout on Friday.

The Florida shooting was the seventh of 13 school shootings that have left 23 people dead 43 people injured since the start of the year. The walkouts, which were initially proposed by organizers behind the Women's March, are being held to "protest Congress' inaction to do more than tweet thoughts and prayers in response to the gun violence plaguing our schools and neighborhoods."
