Salem Housing Lottery Opens For 46 Lighthouses Apartments

The housing development in the Point neighborhood in Salem includes studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

SALEM, MA — Forty-six affordable apartments at the Lighthouses in Salem's Point neighborhood are being made available through a housing lottery for qualified applicants.

The North Shore Community Development Coalition opened the housing lottery for the two buildings consisting of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for residents who earn below 30 percent and 60 percent of the area median income.

Lighthouse 47 is located on the corner of Leavitt Street and Congress Street and includes 25 affordable apartments, along with The Salem Pantry's first storefront location. Lighthouse 34, located on Peabody Street, will create pathway access between Ward Street and Peabody Street and includes 21 affordable homes, as well as an art gallery.

This is the Development Coalition's second Passive House development and its first one in Salem.

A Salem Community Preservation Act grant and the city's federal HOMES funding allocation helped finance this project.

The city's American Rescue Plan Act funding is financing The Salem Pantry storefront location.

All units include heat and hot water, modern kitchens, energy-efficient appliances — including a dishwasher — ample closet space, tile bathrooms, and oversized windows with window coverings.
