Other streets posted as "resident only" year-round remain that way at all times.
The city said residents on those streets affected will be mailed one permit per vehicle registered in the city to the qualifying address. Those who do not receive their permit by Oct. are asked to contact the traffic and parking department and bring a copy of residency and proof of vehicle registration at that address to get a sticker.

Owners of leased vehicles must show proof of residency at the qualifying address. Company vehicles require a letter on company letterhead stating permission to use that vehicle off-hours and proof of residence. Salem State students will need to show an official stamped letter from the registrar's office and proof of temporary residence on an affected street.
The fine for parking on a resident-only street without a valid permit is $50 and illegally parked vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense. Those with questions can contact the traffic and parking department at 978-745-8120.
