Salem Little League Marks 25th Annual Opening Day

Mayor Sam Zoll remembered with moment of silence before first pitch.

Salem Little League celebrated its on Sunday, during a ceremony attended by players, families and little league boosters.

A parade of players made its way from to the ballfield at , where the ceremony began with a moment of silence in honor of former mayor before the first pitch.

Among the honored guests was Anthony Salvo, who was Salem's mayor in 1987 when the Salem Little League was established.

The league has grown from 220 players in 1987 to more than 600 players today, Salvo said.

"The organizers are doing a great job," Salvo added.

SLL President Patrick Chasse said the league has "great sponsorships, good coaches, and the kids enjoy absolutely everything about the league."
