Salem Man Accused Of Striking Officer While Trying to Flee Police Charged
Salem police said the 22-year-old hit an officer and crashed into a city vehicle and fence while evading police on Friday.

SALEM, MA — A Salem man who police said struck an officer with his vehicle and crashed into a city vehicle and fence while trying to flee police was charged with drug trafficking and other offenses.
Police said Leoncio Vizcaino, 22, was being pursued amid a drug investigation on Friday when he attempted to flee detectives, hitting the officer. Police said after the crash officers removed Vizcaino from the vehicle and he was placed under arrest after what they said was a "brief struggle."
The officer suffered minor injuries upon being hit.

Vizcaino was charged with trafficking fentanyl, distribution of fentanyl and crack cocaine, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and other driving offenses.
Police said later that night they responded to a fight in the area of North Street and Summer Street where one of those involved in the fight was found bleeding heavily from his left forearm and wrist area from a knife injury.

Police said they investigated the fight and identified Bryan Brandao, 30, of Waltham, as the suspect involved in causing the injuries.
Police said he was located and charged with aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury.
