Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo To Serve On State Labor Relations Board

The first-year Salem mayor will Massachusetts Municipal Association's legislative priorities advisory committee.

SALEM, MA — Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo will work to shape the state's agenda on Civil Service reform, municipal recruitment and retention challenges and collective bargaining processes as part of the Massachusetts Municipal Association Policy Committee on Personal and Labor Relations.

Pangallo, who was elected to fill out the remainder of Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll's term as many last May, will serve on the committee that also works on issues related to collective bargaining, Civil Service, employee benefits, employment law, health care and insurance, human resources, post-employment benefits, pensions, veterans' benefits, workplace anti-discrimination and workplace safety.

The working committees recommend legislative priorities on behalf of the Commonwealth's cities and towns.

"I'm proud to join this important policy committee with the MMA and I'm grateful to MMA Executive Director Adam Chapdelaine for the invitation," Pangallo said. "Cities face enormous challenges and pressures when it comes to our workforce, retirees, and labor relations in general. We want to recruit and retain the best people possible for public service, and ensure our personnel policies further our shared equity goals, as well.

Committee membership is comprised of mayors, select board members, city councilors, city and town managers/administrators, and finance committee members.
