Salem School Staff Member Placed On Leave After Accusation
Families were told that the staff member was placed on leave pending an investigation into an "inappropriate interaction with a child."

SALEM, MA — A Salem middle school support staff member was placed on leave last week pending an investigation into an accusation of "an inappropriate interaction with a child."
Superintendent Steve Zrike sent an email to families about the "unsettling" situation.
"Upon learning about the investigation," Zrike said, "we immediately contacted the Department of Children and Families and the police.

"Given that the matter is in the hands of investigators, we have limited information to provide to families," he added.
Zrike said staff members, Principal Bethann Jellison and administration were available to families at arrival, dismissal, and via text, phone and email for any parents or guardians seeking to connect regarding the accusation.
