Salem Lifts Snow Emergency, Schools Closed
The city has resources available to help you weather the storm clean-up.

SALEM, MA -- Salem Public Schools are closed Thursday as the second nor'easter in a week bears down on the region. At 10 am Thursday, Salem lifted a snow emergency that took effect Wednesday at 10 pm. Officials had waited throughout the Wednesday afternoon as forecasts changed almost as often as the wind.
"Unfortunately, the reports have been wide ranging and hard to predict. Earlier today, it looked like we were going to dodge the worst of the snow, however, it now appears that conditions are shifting and we could be hit harder and later than anticipated," Mayor Kim Driscoll said in a Facebook post.
The city also has a snow shoveling assistance program for elderly and disabled residents. More information on the program, which is run by the Salem Council on Aging, is available on the Website.
