SALEM, MA —While Salem police said there were no specific threats as of Friday afternoon to the city of Salem in the wake of last week's attack on the U.S. Capitol, they are planning additional patrols on duty through Inauguration Day.

Salem police told Patch the department has "open lines of communications with state and federal agencies about the ongoing situation and safety concerns associated with the inauguration."

Police said there have been "general threats" made throughout the nation — primarily aimed at state capital buildings.
