Salem Police Caution Residents of Counterfeit Pills Containing Fentanyl
BREAKING: Police say the pills are a counterfeit form of Oxycodone, and contain enough potency to cause death.
SALEM, MA — Salem police issued a warning informing residents of deadly counterfeit pills containing Fentanyl that may be in the Salem area, according to an announcement Wednesday.
Police are informing residents of a counterfeit form of Oxycodone (Percocet) that is in fact Fentanyl. Police added that the counterfeit pills contain enough potency to cause death.
Capt. Conrad Prosniewski of the Salem Police Department told Patch that the pills look identical to a standard Oxycodone or a Percocet pill.

"They look identical to the real thing," Prosniewski said.
Residents are urged to doubt the legitimacy of such pills unless the medication is prescribed by a physician.

Prosniewski also added that police had heard through law enforcement circles that the pills may be in the Salem area, and that the pills are believed to be coming in from China.
