Salem Police to Increase Presence over October Weekends

SALEM, MA — With the influx of people celebrating halloween in Salem over the holiday weekend, the Salem Police Department will be increasing its presence in the city. Police announced Thursday that increased presence will include the use of canine teams specially trained in detecting explosives.

Police reminded residents that there is no credible threat to the area, and that it is normal for dogs to be working large events.

"Just because you see a canine team working does not mean there is a problem, we are simply being proactive and cautious," Police posted on Facebook.

Police also urged residents to say something if they see something suspicious.
