Arrest Made in Connection to Salem Church Burglary

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:
Monday, June 24:
- At 3:14 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Salem Street.
- At 4:11 p.m., police responded to a report of illegal trash dumping on Technology Way.
- At 5:51 p.m., police checked on the well-being of a dog on Jefferson Avenue.
- At 5:56 p.m., a May Street woman entered the police station to report that her niece stole items from her home. Missing items included five laptop computers, six cell phones, an iPod, a digital camera and assorted jewelry.
- At 6:42 p.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant on Leavitt Street. Harrison U. Ortiz, 24, of 14 Harrison Ave., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
- At 7:44 p.m., a woman called police to report that her bike was stolen from the rack at the MBTA station on Bridge Street.
- At 7:45 p.m., a man entered the police station to report that his bike was stolen on Federal Street.
- At 8:08 p.m., police made an arrest on Belleview Avenue. Tiffany L. Zemp, 27, of 53 Belleview Ave., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
- At 8:52 p.m., police responded to a report of an open manhole cover near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Jackson Street. The DPW was notified and replaced the manhole cover.
- At 9:03 p.m., police responded to a report of sewage in the street on Park Street.
- At 11:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person near an electrical box on First Street.

- At 12:39 a.m., police responded to a report of a man sleeping in an alley on Derby Street. Steven P. Levesque, 53, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
- At 12:46 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lynde Street. Miguel A. Alma, 20, of 15 Lynde St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
- At 7:12 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen motorcycle on Derby Street.
- At 9:04 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Canal Street and Forest Avenue. Ivy W. Maina, 23, of 143 Canal St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
- At 10:07 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a cyclist on Margin Street.
- At 12:12 p.m., an arrest was made on High Street. Jacob A. Byers, 34, 11 Broad St., Lynn, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
- At 12:54 p.m., a resident found a sandwich bag containing four prescription pills on the sidewalk at Salem Willows Park.
- At 1:47 p.m., police responded to a report of wires down on Essex Street.
- At 2:04 p.m., police responded to a report of kids fighting at the intersection of Ropes Street and Porter Street Court.
- At 3;24 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle on Wharf Street.
- At 5:28 p.m., police responded to a report of a woodchuck in the bushes on Essex Street.
- At 5:39 p.m., a search warrant was executed on Palmer Street. Raymond A. Garland, 42, 12 Palmer St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant. Minnie E. Hartwell, 46, of 21 Leavitt St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
