Local Detectives, US Marshals Arrest Salem Man

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:
Wednesday, April 3:
- At 4:17 p.m., police responded to a report of a loose dog on Irving Street.
- At 4:26 p.m., police executed a search warrant on Winter Island Road.
- At 5:03 p.m., a Salem Street man called police to report that his daughter's cell phone was stolen from Salem High School on Tuesday.
- At 5:21 p.m., the owner of an apartment building on High Street called police to report that he caught two men stealing wires from the building.
- At 6:45 p.m., police and fire units responded to a report of smoke in a building on Summit Avenue. The smoke was determined to have been caused by burned food.
- At 6:31 p.m., a hypodermic needle was reported near the intersection of Washington and Federal streets. Police were unable to locate the needle.
- At 6:34 p.m., a Buffum Street woman called police to report that a man in a suspicious vehicle may have taken pictures of her kids on Monday.
- At 9:52 p.m., police responded to a report of a loose dog in the street on Greenway Road. The dog was eventually returned to its owner.
- At 10:46 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Prescott Street.
- At 11:21 p.m., police responded to the lobby of The Hawthorne Hotel. Steven P. Levesque, 53, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.
Thursday, April 4:

- At 3:13 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Park Street. Gittaria Calcano, 31, of 31 Park St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
- At 4:29 a.m., police received a report of loud pops in the area of Moffatt Road.
- At 6:53 a.m., Salem detectives Sgt. Kristian Hanson and Kevin St. Pierre assisted the US Marshals with arresting a local man on a Federal Probation Violation Warrant. Jay L. Woodward, 43, of 351 Bridge St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

- At 2:06 p.m., a woman entered the police station to report losing a baby bag containing 400 Oxycodone pills in Beverly. The woman was advised to contact the Beverly Police Department.
- At 2:31 p.m., police responded to a report of damaged property on Mason Street. A juvenile was placed under arrest on a charge of malicious destruction of property valued above $250.
