Salem Police Promote, Welcome Officers At Ceremony

The Salem Police Department swore in a new officer and promoted two more to captain and sergeant on Friday.

SALEM, MA — The Salem Police Department welcomed one of the city's own to the department, while promoting two officers to the rank of sergeant during a Friday ceremony.

Mayor Kim Driscoll administered the oath of office during the ceremony when Sean Coughlin was sworn in as a city police officer. Coughlin is a 1997 Salem High School graduate who has served in the U.S. Marine Reserves.

Marc Berube was promoted to captain. Berube joined the Salem Police Department in 2000 and is the patrol division commander.

Sean Andrus was promoted to sergeant. Andrus joined the Salem Police Department in 2013 and was the department's K9 officer. He is also the owner of the recently retired Salem police K9 Turbo.
