Salem Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver That Hit Pedestrian
A man in his sixties was seriously injured in the crash in front of fire department headquarters Sunday night.

SALEM, MA -- A driver fled the scene after hitting and seriously injuring a pedestrian in front of the Salem fire headquarters at Derby and Lafayette Streets. The victim was described as aman in his sixties. Emergency crews responded from the nearby firehouse after someone alerted them to the accident and the man was transported to North Shore Medical Center.
A description of the car that fled the scene was not released, according to the Salem News, which first reported this story. After the accident another driver positioned his vehicle to block the road so the man would not be hit another car. A few bystanders were also helping the man when EMS crews arrived.
"We found him unresponsive on the street with a head injury," fire Capt. Scott Austin told the newspaper.
