Blizzard 2026: Salem Public Schools Closed, Snow Emergency Parking Ban, Trash Collection Delay
City Hall and Salem Public Schools will be closed on Monday in anticipation of up to 20 inches of snow, power outages and flooding.
SALEM, MA — Salem Public Schools and City Hall are closed on Monday with a snow emergency parking ban in place as of Sunday at 5 p.m. ahead of what could be a historic blizzard overnight.
Salem police said roads may be closed due to safety concerns, including flooding, with up to 20 inches of snow and winds gusting to 60 mph possible on the North Shore.
"If possible, please avoid driving during the storm and never drive around road closure barriers," police said on Sunday. "Avoid parking in areas prone to flooding. Residents of flood-prone areas may wish to remove valuables from basements ahead of the storm."

Property owners are reminded that they must clear snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property, including crosswalk entries, after the storm.
"Plowing operations will be ongoing through the storm, so it is advised to shovel after the snow has stopped falling to avoid plowed snow being pushed onto cleared sidewalks or driveways," police said.
