Salem Resident to Compete in Live Inkmaster Finale

The live season finale of Inkmaster will be held Tuesday night in New York City.

SALEM, MA — A Salem resident is currently on the cusp of earning one of the tattoo industry's most prestigious titles. Kelly Doty, the owner of Helheim Gallery located at 28 Norman St., has advanced through 15 episodes of competition and has reached the finale of Spike TV's eighth season of Inkmaster.

According to her bio on the SpikeTV website, Doty's style is described as spooky, illustrative and cartoonish; but the Salem artist describes it as "grim but cute." Doty will be competing against two other tattoo artists during a live finale in New York City.

Doty is competing for a $100,000 prize, a chance to be featured in "Inked" magazine and a guest residency in her mentor Chris Nunez's shop.
