Downtown bike lane and striping improvement project in Salem

Overnight work September 9-27

MassDOT and the City of Salem will be carrying out a re-striping project through downtown Salem between Monday, September 9th and, weather permitting, Friday, September 27th. This work will consist of removing existing lines and laying out and installing new lines, including bike lanes, and associated signage. To avoid disruption, the work will be carried out at night. Temporary no parking signs will be posted where needed and police details will be present to assist vehicles around work zones. This project is funded by the United States Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Improvement Program and the striping plans were developed in consultation with the City of Salem, including the City’s Traffic and Parking Commission and Bicycling Advisory Committee, and reflect the City’s complete streets policy.
