Salem Schools Health And Wellness Town Meeting

SALEM, MA —As Salem Public Schools look to bring back more students to hybrid learning amid a coronavirus pandemic perhaps just emerging from its latest surge, there are plenty of questions about the status of the virus in the community, how schools are preventing spread in in-classroom learning, vaccination timetables and how students are reacting emotionally to nearly a year of disrupted social and learning experiences.

On Wednesday, the district will look to help answer some of those questions through a health and well town meeting. The virtual town meeting, which will include Dr. Clovene Campbell, Medical Director, Pediatric Associates of Greater Salem and Beverly, and a second representative from the North Shore Medical Center, will run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Topics covered will include "understanding the current status of the virus in our community — spread and positivity." This will get medical experts' perspectives on the mitigation strategies in schools and ideas on how to further protect students and staff.

"Learning more about the mental health implications on our students." Another North Shore Medical Center forum recently discussed tips for teens having a hard time dealing with the loss of traditional social interaction from sports, clubs and other school-related activities.

"Beginning to understand the vaccine details and rollout" will talk about the timeline of vaccinations and the safety of taking the vaccine.

There will also be time set aside to answer questions and address concerns.
