Salem Schools Lose Power After Nearby Vehicle Crash

School officials said power was out for Bates and Witchcraft schools Wednesday morning.

SALEM, MA — Some Salem students may have experienced trouble logging in for remote learning Wednesday morning due to a power outage at the Bates and Witchcraft schools.

Salem school officials said a vehicle crash in the area caused the outage.

As of 8:30 a.m. power was restored at Witchcraft, while Bates remained without power. In-person learning was able to proceed.

"No student will be penalized if they are not able to engage with learning this (morning) due to this outage," Salem Schools said.

Officials said power was restored to Bates, as well as the surrounding neighborhood, as of about 10 a.m.
