Salem Sets First Family Field Day At Forest River Park
The free event in July will include games, a kickball tournament, pool time and ice cream.
SALEM, MA — Salem will host its first Family Field Day this summer at Forest River Park, with a full day of free activities for residents and families.
The July 12 event is being presented through a partnership between the Salem 400+ initiative, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, the Salem YMCA, and the City of Salem Parks & Recreation Department.
The event is intended to celebrate the community, summer, and Forest River Park.

Family Field Day will begin with Kids' Field Day activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the front lawn — including potato sack races, tug of war and other field day competitions.
A kickball tournament for ages 14 and up is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stephen O’Grady Field. Pre-registration is required, and spots are limited. Single registrants will be assigned to teams that did not meet the minimum of eight players.

There will also be all-day lawn games, arts and crafts, bubbles, and free ice cream while supplies last.
The Forest River Park pool will open free of charge for Salem residents. The Salem Fire Department is scheduled to bring a pumper truck spray zone to the front lawn.
Parking at Forest River Park will be free for attendees throughout the day, with overflow parking available at Salem State University. Forest River Park was highlighted in the announcement for its green spaces, beachfront, pool, athletic fields and concrete slide.
