Salem Sets State Primary Early Voting Dates, Drop Box Locations

The city will begin in-person early voting for the Sept. 6 state primary on Aug. 27.

SALEM, MA — Salem has set early, in-person voting dates and vote-by-mail drop box locations for the Sept. 6 statewide primary.

Early voting will begin on Aug. 27 and continue for seven days through Sept. 2.

Early voting will take place at the City Hall Annex at 98 Washington Street.

Voting on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28 will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Aug. 29 through Aug. 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Sept. 1 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sept. 2 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The city will also have five vote drop boxes available for residents to place their mail-in votes.

Those will be located outside City Hall at 93 Washington Street, the Fire Station Headquarters at 48 Lafayette Street, the fire station at 64 Loring Avenue, the fire station at 415 Essex Street and the fire station at 142 North Street.

Vote-by-mail applications must be received by the City Clerk's Office no later than 5 p.m. on Aug. 29.

Those with a vote-by-mail ball must return it to the City Clerk's Office via mail or a vote drop box by 8 p.m. on Sept. 6.

Vote-by-mail ballots cannot be cast at the polls on election day.

Ward 1 Precinct 2 Community Center, 135 Lafayette Street

Ward 2 Precinct 1 & 2 Community Life Center, 401 Bridge Street

Ward 3 Precinct 1 & 2 Salem High School, Auditorium, 77 Willson Street

Ward 4 Precinct 1 & 2 Witchcraft Heights School Gymnasium, 1 Frederick Street

Ward 5 Precinct 1 & 2 Saltonstall School Auditorium, 211 Lafayette Street

Ward 6 Precinct 1 & 2 Bates School Gymnasium, 53 Liberty Hill Avenue

Ward 7 Precinct 1 & 2 Salem Enterprise Center, 121 Loring Avenue
