Salem State To Freeze Tuition, Fees Through Spring 2022
President John Keenan said the tuition freeze will help students struggling from the effects of the coronavirus crisis finish their degrees.
SALEM, MA —Salem State will hold the line on undergraduate tuition and fees through next spring in what the school said is an effort to help students and families recovering from the coronavirus health crisis.
The school said on Thursday that its Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Wednesday to freeze tuition and fees for both the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters, as well as single-occupancy room and board costs.
The freeze will include both in-state and out-of-state students.

"As our students and their families struggle amid the pandemic economy, this is one important way in which we can help make it possible for students to complete their degrees despite many challenges COVID-19 has brought," Salem State President John Keenan said in a statement.
Full-time students living off campus pay $11,675 in tuition and fees, while those living on campus with a meal plan pay $25,486. The freeze also applies to evening undergraduate courses where in-state students pay $439.70 per course credit.

The school said students will also benefit from $3.256 million in financial assistance from the Federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.
"Since the start of the pandemic, we have worked one-on-one with students and families whose financial circumstances have evolved due to COVID-19," Bonnie Galinski, interim vice president for enrollment management and marketing, said. "Our goal is always to do what we can to meet students' financial need so that they can achieve what they came to our campus for: to graduate and launch their careers through the opportunities provided by a Salem State degree."
