Salem State To Host Candidate Forum For Open 6th Congressional Seat

SALEM, MA — Voters in Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District will have a chance to hear from candidates seeking to succeed Rep. Seth Moulton at a June 17 forum and debate at Salem State University.

The event comes as Moulton is challenging Sen. Ed Markey for his seat in this year's primary election on Sept. 1.

The Frederick E. Berry Institute of Politics at Salem State University is hosting the event, which will be open to all candidates in the contested primary races.

Dan Koh, Thomas Beccia, Jamie Belsito, Rachel Creemers, Mariah Lancaster, and Tram Nguyen were involved in a recent forum for Democratic candidates at Swampscott High School.

The forum and debate will be held at Salem State's Sophia Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts, 352 Lafayette St., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m., and parking is available in the nearby parking garage on College Drive.

The event is free, but registration is required to attend.

There will be both a moderated forum and an open debate segment. The format is intended to give candidates a chance to share their views and engage directly with one another on issues affecting the district.

The event will be moderated by broadcast journalist Alison King, identified in the announcement as a Berry Institute of Politics Spring 2024 Fellow.

"We are excited to provide voters with an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates seeking to represent them in Congress."
