Salem State Inducts Sophomores Into Honor Society

The students were honored at the Alpha Omega Psi Induction Ceremony in October.

From Salem State University: The First Year Experience office at Salem State University recently inducted second year students into the Alpha Omega Psi honor society. The students who were inducted into the honor society as part of the Salem State’s chapter’s seventh class.

The students along with their respective family and friends attended the 2019-2020 Alpha Omega Psi Induction Ceremony, which took place in the Upper North Campus Dining Commons on October 19, 2019.

During the induction ceremony, new members were formally sworn into the society. Members were awarded a certificate and medallion which they may wear as part of their commencement regalia in two years.

Assistant Director of the First Year Experience, Franklin Chilaka said, “We are proud to be inducting our seventh class of students into Alpha Omega Psi Honor Society. These students demonstrated their commitment to academic success and engagement by completing all requirements of the Emerging Scholars Program by attending bi-weekly meetings, community events, and met the necessary GPA requirement at the conclusion of spring 2019. We look forward to seeing all that the inductees will continue to accomplish on campus.”

Alpha Omega Psi was established in 2012 by the Center for Academic Excellence. In 2016, the First Year Experience office offered to continue leading the Alpha Omega Psi honor society. These members are now part of an honor society designed to connect students to a support network and provide them with motivation, encouragement, and a community of peers who are also committed to maintaining a high level of academic success in college.
