Salem Summer Eats Program Kicks Off With Mary Jane Lee Park Party

The program will provide free meals to Salem children and teens each week from July 6 through Aug. 11.

SALEM, MA — The Salem Summer Eats free meals program for children and teens will kick off with a party at Mary Jane Lee Park on July 6.

The program continues throughout the summer with food available to those 18 and younger through Aug. 11 at various schools and other locations in the city.

The kickoff party is from 4 to 6 p.m. and includes giveaways, games and activities.

Free food can then be obtained each week at the following locations:

Bates School on Liberty Hill Avenue: July 10 through Aug. 11; Monday through Friday; breakfast 8:30-9, lunch 12-12:30.

Saltonstall School on Lafayette Street: July 10 through Aug. 11; Monday through Friday; breakfast 8:30-9, lunch 12-12:30.

Collins Middle School on Highland Avenue: July 10 through Aug. 11; Monday through Friday; breakfast 8:30-9, lunch 12-12:30.

Salem High School on Willson Street: July 10 through Aug. 11; Monday through Friday; breakfast 8:30-9, lunch 12-12:30.

Forest River on Clifton Avenue: July 10 through Aug. 11; Monday through Friday; lunch 11:45-12:10.

Rainbow Terrace off Loring Avenue: July 10 through Aug. 11; Monday through Friday; lunch 12:20-12:35.

Winter Island on Winter Island road: July 10 through Aug. 11; Monday through Friday; lunch 11-11:30.

Mary Jane Lee Park on Palmer Street: July 6 through Aug. 10; Tuesday through Thursday; dinner 4 to 6 p.m.

The Salem Eats Program is a collaboration between Project Bread and Salem Public Schools.

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 54 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations.
