Salem Teachers Saw Big Pay Increase Between 2015 And 2016
The jump allowed Salem to place 27th in the state in a ranking of highest average pay for teachers.

SALEM, MA -- Salem teachers seemingly had more to spend this holiday season, according to a new report from MassLive. The average Salem teacher earned $85,224, which MassLive noted was a "drastic jump" from the average salary of $73,185 in 2015. The salary put Salem 27th in the ranking of the top 50 average teacher salaries in Massachusetts.
Statewide, the average teacher earned $76,442, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That was the fifth highest in the nation. The highest-paid teachers worked in Carlisle, where the average teacher earned $100,803 last year, up $91,182 in 2015.
