Salem Victim Identified, Man Held Without Bail In Cabot Street Killing

The Essex County District Attorney's Office identified the suspect and victim in the death of a 41-year-old woman found on Tuesday.

SALEM, MA — The Essex County District Attorney's Office identified the victim and murder suspect in the death of a woman whose body was found in a Cabot Street home in Salem on Tuesday.

Essex County DA Paul Tucker said on Thursday that Paul Morey, 50, of Salem, was charged in the death of 42-year-old Patricia Donaldson, also of Salem.

Donaldson's body was found during a wellness check of the home on Tuesday night.

Morey was located and arrested in Portsmouth, NH on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Morey was arraigned on a fugitive from justice charge in New Hampshire's 10th Circuit District Division of Portsmouth. Morey appeared via video conference and was appointed counsel.

He was ordered held without bail, pending review at his next hearing, which was scheduled for Portsmouth on Sept. 17.

The Essex DA's Office said he is expected to be arraigned on one count of murder in Salem District Court after the conclusion of the fugitive proceedings in New Hampshire.
