Salem's New Splash Pad Open

There is no lifeguard on duty at the splash pad, so residents are advised to play at their own risk.

The new splash pad at Mary Jane Lee Park on Prince and Palmer Street in Salem opened to the public this week. The new playground amenity will be open daily from 10 a.m.. to 6 p.m.through Labor Day.

Anyone under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult and bathing suits are required at all times; no street clothes or shoes are permitted on the splash pad. Glass, pets, skateboards, bikes, alcohol, smoking, and running are all prohibited and all regular park rules and policies apply (http://salem.com/Pages/SalemMA_Recreation/RulesParkandPlaygrounds).

The splash pad was designed by Naomi Cottrell of Michelle Crowley Landscape Architecture and Bill Ross of New England Civil Engineering and built by Quirk Construction Corp. with Vortex splash pad equipment from O’Brien & Sons.

It was funded through a $200,000 grant from the Our Common Backyards grant program administered by the Commonwealth’s Division of Conservation Services, a division of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
