Between snow, sleet, wintry mixes and freezing temperatures, it is more important than ever to make sure your family is safe in the event of an emergency. Here is some important information you should know about winter in Salem.

Snow Removal
According to the City of Salem website:

"Presently, there is an ordinance requiring property owners to remove snow from their bordering sidewalks within six hours after the snow ceases to fall in the daytime and before 12:00 noon if it ceases to fall in the nighttime. Violators are subject to a $25 fine for 1st offense, $75 for 2nd offense and $100 for 3rd and subsequent offenses."
