School Makeup Days Cut Into April Vacation
For all Salem Public Schools with the exception of the Saltonstall School.

School officials, with input from parents and the community, have come up with a plan to make up seven snow days.
For all Salem Public Schools with the exception of the Saltonstall School:
If there are no more snow days, then the makeup days will be June 22-26 and Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24. The last day of school would be Friday, June 26.

If there is one more snow day, then the makeup days will be June 22-26 and Wednesday, April 22, Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24. The last day of school would be Friday, June 26.
If there are two more snow days, then the makeup days will be June 22-26 and Tuesday, April 21, Wednesday, April 22, Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24. The last day of school would be Friday, June 26.

If there are three or more snow days, then the makeup days will be June 22-26 and Tuesday, April 21, Wednesday, April 22, Thursday, April 23, Friday, April 24 and Monday, June 29. The last day of school would be June 29.
If there are four more days of snow days, then the makeup days will be June 22-26 and Tuesday, April 21, Wednesday, April 22, Thursday, April 23, Friday, April 24, Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30. The last day of school would be June 30.
The makeup days for the SaltonStall School will be April 22-24, June 29 and 30, and July 1 and 2. The last day of school at this point is July 2.
Staff members who would have worked during the snow days will be expected to work on these make-up days.
Those who have made April vacation plans AND can provide us with supporting documentation that these plans were made on or before Feb. 10, will be allowed to access any accrued vacation and/or personal leave that they have available. In the absence of either, they will be authorized to take the days off without pay, according to School Superintendent Stephen Russell.
Families who have made April vacation plans and who are willing to provide schools with supporting documentation that those plans were made on or before Feb. 10, may have his/her child(ren)’s absence(s) marked as “excused,” according to the superintendent,
