Spirit of the Caribbean

Beat Brasserie Hosts an Evening of Caribbean Culture with a Performance by Zili Misik

On Thursday, July 14th, 2016, Beat Brasserie, located in Cambridge’s Harvard Square, is traveling to the tropics during its first-ever Spirit of the Caribbean night celebrating the culture, music and cuisine of the islands! From 8:00PM-12:00AM, Zili Misik, the all-female, world-fusion band, will capture the essence of the Caribbean with their unique new world soul that seamlessly draws influence from Haitian mizik rasin, Jamaican roots reggae, Afro-Brazilian samba, Afro-Cuban son, and African American spirituals, blues, jazz, and neo soul.
While Zili Misik shakes things up on stage, the Beat’s kitchen, already known for its unique fusion of different cultural cuisines, is turning up the heat! The Beat will be serving a variety of flavorful island-inspired dishes including Jerk-Spiced Red Snapper, Goat Curry and Conch Fritters. Guests can also order favorites from the regular menu Baja Style Seafood Ceviche with shrimp, lobster and whitefish, finished with tomato and lime ($14), Blistered Shishito Peppers with lemon and sea salt ($9), Baby Back Pork Rib Dinner with sweet chili sauce, Jasmine rice, and slaw ($25), and Shrimp Tacos with black beans, rice, queso blanco, cheddar cheese, and salsa ($21).
No Caribbean night would be complete without rum-based cocktails and punch! The expert bar staff will be shaking up a variety of special cocktails in addition to favorites such as the Cactus Flower Punch Bowl made with Milagro tequila, ginger, lemon, and agave, and the Rite of Spring Punch Bowl made with Letherbee gin, grapefruit & lavender, both served for groups of four ($45), six ($65), and eight ($85).
Don’t miss the chance to get a taste of the tropics! For more information on Beat Brasserie, or to make a reservation please visit www.beatbrasserie.com, or call 617.499.0001.
