Swampscott Chiropractor Arraigned On Assault Charges
The Essex County District Attorney's Office said a Humphrey Street chiropractor is accused of the indecent assault of a 31-year-old client.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A Swampscott chiropractor was arraigned on indecent assault charges in Peabody District Court on Tuesday after the Essex County District Attorney's Office said a 31-year-old woman accused the man of assaulting her during a treatment session.
The Essex DA's Office said Dr. Ilan S. Amar, who owns A Touch of Health on Humphrey Street, was arraigned on indecent assault and battery and assault and battery charges. He was released on personal recognizance and ordered to have no contact with the victim and not practice chiropractic medicine.
Essex Assistant District Attorney Gina Del Rio Gazzo had requested a $10,000 cash bail and said the woman accused Amar of the assault during a Dec. 5 treatment session.

Del Rio Gazzo's motion to impound the police report was allowed.
The Essex DA's Office said Amar turned himself in after an arrest warrant was issued.

A pre-trial hearing for the case is scheduled for March 8.
