Teachers Honored with Local Teachers' Award

Jennifer Bartlett of Bates Elementary School, Salem, and Connor Ryan of Marblehead High School have been honored with the 2018 Margaret Voss Howard Teacher Recognition Award, given yearly to one Salem teacher and one Marblehead teacher as “representative of all the excellent, dedicated teachers in the community who make a difference to children every day.”

Mrs. Bartlett was cited for her “profound impact on our district, school, and most importantly, our students.” She leads students to significant growth and achievement and builds a classroom community in which highly engaged students demonstrate character and love of learning.

Mr. Ryan was credited for “enormous impact on [students] as they become creative writers, critical thinkers, and intrigued and curious consumers of literature under his dynamic instruction.” He is known for creativity, high standards, and commitment to students in the classroom and beyond.

The award is based on nominations submitted by community members. It is a fund of the Essex County Community Foundation.
