Tuesday's MBTA Commuter Rail Delays Not Heat-Related
Keolis says Tuesday's delays on the Rockport and Newburyport lines serving Salem and Beverly were caused by mechanical issues.

SALEM, MA -- A train stopped in Swampscott for over an hour Tuesday led to subsequent trains on the Rockport and Newburyport lines being delayed throughout Tuesday afternoon's rush hour. But Keolis, the company that runs the MBTA's commuter rail, said the problem was mechanical and not related to yesterday's sweltering heat.
Keolis is currently in a multi-year process to upgrade locomotives across the commuter rail, spokesman Tory Mazzola toldthe Salem news, which first reported this story. "There's more work to do, as evidenced by service tonight," he said.
