Unregistered Person Attempted to Pick Up a Child From the Bowditch School

Salem school officials are asking parents and guardians to make sure that school pick-up information for students is up to date.

A person entered the Bowditch School earlier this week asking to pick up a student from the afterschool program, according to Salem Public Schools.

The person’s name was not listed on the student information card and when the YMCA staff called home to double-check on this person picking up the child, the child’s father did not recognize this person. His request to pick-up this student was denied. The person left the school without incident. School officials turned the security tapes over to Salem Police.

There is an active investigation underway, according to school officials.
