Lynn man arrested and charged with possession of burglarious tools, asked why he comes to Salem.

SALEM, MA - A Lynn man is facing several charges after he was arrested on Wednesday morning on Loring Hills Avenue in possession of burglary tools and a stun gun.
During the booking process, Gabriel O. Martinez, 19, of Chatham Street in Lynn was asked by the arresting officer why he came to rob locations in Salem if he lived in Lynn. According to police, Martinez was known to them and suspected in a number of house breaks in Salem.
Martinez asked what there was to steal in Lynn, according to the police report.

Martinez’s arrest was put in motion around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday when a witness called police and told police he saw a man with a backpack who appeared to be looking in condominium windows.
When police arrived, an officer noticed Martinez coming up some stairs. The officer said Martinez told him he was looking for a friend in one of the buildings to “hang out today.”

Martinez initially gave police a false name and birthday, according to the report.
When asked if they could check his backpack, police said Martinez didn’t object and unzipped the compartments. Inside officers found a Leatherman, flashlight, and a stun again among assorted clothing, as well as an EBT card with Martinez’s actual name on it.
Martinez was placed under arrest when the stun gun was found, and on the way back to the station, several detail officers informed the arresting officer that Martinez was known to them and thought to be involved in other house breaks.
Martinez was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon (stun gun) and possession of burglarious instruments, as well as on two warrants.
