Witches Track Teams Drop First Meet
In the first meet of the winter season, the Salem High boys and girls track teams were both dealt losses by the Peabody Tanners. The girls lost 11-75 while the boys fell 19-67.

It was a rocky to start to the 2010-11 winter track season, as both the boys and girls track teams lost to Peabody on Monday, Dec. 13.
The girls scored 11 points to the Lady Tanners' 75, but there were a few runners that posted promising finishes. Casey Lavoie claimed second place in the 300, with a time of 46.1 seconds. The brightest moment for the Lady Witches was in the hurdles, where Devyn Ryan and Khrisna Corpuz finished first and second respectively in times of 7.3 and 7.6 seconds on the 45 yard track at Peabody High.
The boys managed slightly better results, with seven top three finishes, but it was still not enough to catch the Peabody runners, who won 19-67.

Danny Collins (1000, 2:48.6) and Joe Nguyen (two-mile, 13:13.1) both finished in third place.
"I think all of our kids did great against Peabody," said head coach Gary Lavoie. "They are a tough team to start the season with; Peabody is a track powerhouse."
