1 Dead In Tanker Crash; Route 24 Closed For Hours
Half of the highway has reopened as officials work to clean up the gas that spilled during the fatal rollover.

FALL RIVER, MA – Route 24 southbound has reopened as officials work to clean up some 200 gallons of gasoline that spilled after a fatal tanker rollover Thursday morning. The highway was completely closed for nearly 9 hours, officials said.
The 67-year-old man driving the tanker was pronounced dead the scene after his tractor trailer carrying gas rolled over and struck another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, a 32-year-old man, has been brought to Rhode Island Hospital.
The crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. by Exit 8. Officials are using foam and sand to try to coat the road. The northbound side of Route 24 remains closed.
