SEEKONK, MA — Winter may still be weeks away, but Seekonk is already gearing up for the next round of snow and ice.
The town's Department of Public Works is looking for snow removal contractors and hired drivers to help keep roads clear and residents safe during the 2026-27 winter season.
Contractors who provide their own vehicles or equipment could qualify for a $1,500 bonus for each eligible vehicle or piece of equipment.
Drivers using their own equipment can earn at least $100 per hour, with rates increasing depending on the type of vehicle and equipment used.
The town is also offering a new $300 sign-on and attendance bonus for eligible hired drivers. Those operating town-owned DPW equipment can earn up to $30 per hour.
All bonuses will be calculated at the end of the snow and ice season, with payments expected around May 1, 2027.
To qualify for the contractor incentive program, all required paperwork must be submitted, accepted and up to date with the town by Nov. 30, 2026. Hired drivers must also meet the applicable registration deadlines and participation requirements to qualify for their bonuses.
Applications and additional information are available online.
With winter weather approaching, the town is looking to build its snow removal team before the first major storm arrives.
