
For the second straight summer, the Swansea Independent Baseball League has been selected by PONY Baseball to host two Region-level tournaments of the North Region in its East Zone.
According to President Andy Fyfe, the SIBL will play host to the 2013 North Region Bronco League-11 Tournament (for players 11 years old and younger) at its Nike Site Playing Complex on July 11 through 14. Five teams – including a SIBL combine – will compete in the double-elimination tournament.
The winner of the Region Tournament will advance to the East Zone Tournament to be held July 19 through 21 in Cranbury Township, Penn. The Zone survivor will earn a berth in the Bronco League-11World Series to be staged July 25 through 28 in Chesterfield, Virg.

Also, the SIBL will serve as host of the 2013 Mustang League Region Tournament for players of ages 9 and 10 years on July 18 to 21 at the Nike Site. This tournament will also use a double-elimination format and will feature either five or six teams, including a SIBL entry.
The Region titleist will move on the East Zone Tournament to be played July 25 through 27 in Chesterfield. The Zone champion will qualify for the 2013 Mustang League World Series which will be contested Aug. 1 through 4 in Burleson, Texas.

According to Fyfe, both Region tournaments hosted by the SIBL this year will also include teams from Connecticut, Metro New York City and Upstate New York. Both tournaments will also be played according to Major League Baseball rules.
