Armed Rhode Island Couple Had Cocaine, Pills, Pot in Seekonk: Police
Joshua Torres and Kerrilynn Hayes were charged with a host of crimes.

Seekonk police on Friday charged a Rhode Island couple with driving around town with a loaded gun, cocaine, marijuana, and amphetamines.
Joshua Torres, 26, of Providence, and Kerrilynn Hayes, 27, of Warwick, were charged with a host of crimes.
Police said Friday at about 2 a.m., Patrolman Adam Laprade stopped the couple’s vehicle on Fall River Avenue near Route 195. Hayes was driving; Laprade reported she was “recklessly” changing lanes and failed to stop for a red light.

Laprade pulled the vehicle over and reported he detected a strong marijuana odor. Laprade’s canine Kilo conducted a sniff test and detected the presence of drugs; a subsequent search turned up cocaine, marijuana, and amphetamines, police said. There was also a loaded .357 revolver, police said.
Hayes was charged with a lane violation, red light violation, possession of a firearm without a license, illegal possession of ammunition, and two counts of drug possession.

Torres was charged with possession of a firearm without a license (subsequent offense), illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a dangerous weapon, and two counts of drug possession with intent to distribute. He also had a warrant out of Falmouth, police said.
