Where are the Men & Women of Steel?

My children took me to see “The Man of Steel” on Father’s Day. Simply put – one of the best movies I have ever seen. To be honest it was easy for me to be swayed by Superman, as he has always been my favorite fictional character. And finally, Hollywood got the story right – FINALLY!

As I watched this fantastic film I realized why I’ve always been drawn to this character. He embodies everything we wish we could aspire to; Integrity, honesty, humility, strength, sacrifice, everything a true hero and leader are made of.

Unfortunately, none and I mean none of our politicians has the credibility to clean Superman’s boots let alone represent us. Spineless pathetic liars are about what they collectively amount to.

It is time that we put our ideologies aside and look for the right people – no matter what their party affiliation is and begin rebuilding our country. We’re saddled with unsustainable spending and debt. A national health plan that is slowly revealing what it really is, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Not to mention a news media that has carefully and purposely lied and failed us.

We’re in a real mess. Washington continues to point fingers in every direction except where the real blame belongs, on both sides of the aisle. Few of our elected officials have any concrete plan to extricate us out of this mess. They’re happy just blaming each other rather then providing any answers.

So we’ll be content sitting in a darkened theater watching a man in tights as he battles evil hoping that maybe the message of this fictional character finds it’s way into the agendas of the empty suits in DC. Washington, DC that is not DC comics.
