October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and 508-DENTIST is honoring those who are fighting breast cancer, as well as those who have been lost. Every week, 508-DENTIST will buy 100 pink carnations and give them to their patients when they come in. For each carnation they hand out, they will donate $10 to The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for “Team Becky,” which is led by Becky Nero of Coventry, RI.
Dr. Lepine was inspired to support Becky’s team when he heard her story from a good friend. A wife and mother of two children, Becky writes about her experiences while undergoing cancer treatment on her blog, Becky’s Big Bytes. Even as she personally battles breast cancer, she has been taking action to increase awareness and raise money for research - recently, she was asked to speak at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Providence. “Her story reached me on a personal level, and I wish to honor my mother by continuing the fight and supporting Becky’s team,” said Dr. Lepine.
Breast cancer research means a lot to 508-DENTIST’s owner, Dr. Guillaume Lepine, and his family. Dr. Lepine lost his mother to breast cancer. “With all of the new research and findings available, we can prevent these losses and celebrate ‘more birthdays’--another day, month, year, and lifetime with our family, friends, and neighbors. We must continue to support the push for a cure,” said Dr. Lepine.
