Case High Class of 2013 Moves on to Next Stage of Their Lives

On the first day of school in 2009, Case High principal Brian McCann called on then freshman Zach Notarangelo.

"I had him put on a cap and gown " said McCann during Sunday's graduation ceremonies at Cardinals Stadium, jokingly that he probably embarassed him. McCann also broke out his own 1980 Case High diploma. "I wanted them to see what a graduate looked liked."

McCann wanted the Class of 2013 to set their goal towards graduation back on that September day. In the four years, he said they have learned and had support to get them to graduation.

"Now. it up to you," he told the graduates. "Believe in yourselves and chase your dreams."

Class President Matthew Plante said he was feeling a mixture of melancholy and nostalgia on graduation day, talking about how excited he was to begin the next stage of his life, but also looking back at his four years of high school.

Both valedictorian Daniel Simcock and saluatorian Ian Huntress talked about cherrishing their experiences at Case High and with their classmates as they move on to the next stages of their lives.

It was superintendent Christine Stanton's last graduation at the helm of the school system as she will be retiring.
