Practice Announces Planned Range of New 'Continuity of Care' Services

Family Medical’s practice philosophy focuses on prevention and wellness, chronic disease management, as well as complex patient multicare coordination to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations. Dr. Lowney sees patients at their home as well as office, hospital and skilled nursing facilities, providing continuity as patients transition from acute medical or surgical care to independence. “These are new, much needed services to improve patients’ quality of life,” Dr. Lowney says.

Dr. Lowney’s clinical interests lie in traditional family medicine as well as Musculoskeletal/Sports Medicine. He is also a specialist in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMT) that involves using the hands to diagnose and treat illness or injury. Often OMT can complement or replace drugs or surgery. This adds another dimension to standard medical care. He takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health care; rather than just treating specific symptoms, the osteopathic philosophy is to treat the person as a whole. Dr. Lowney Jr., describes his treatment style as a balance of traditional general medicine and osteopathic philosophy.

He says, “I believe the body has innate abilities to heal itself. I see my role as a wellness guide, to inform and motivate my patients to be their best self, keeping in mind the body sometimes needs help along the way. Using medications and osteopathic manipulation, I aim to optimize and personalize each patient’s treatment plan to achieve this goal.”
