Fairhaven SWAT Standoff Ends In Arrest

FAIRHAVEN, MA — A man was arrested Sunday morning in Fairhaven following a SWAT standoff, according to police. The man's name was not released.

Police said the incident started at about 8:30 a.m. at a Winsegansett Avenue residence.

"(Officers) were turned away by a resident who then barricaded himself inside the home," Fairhaven police said in a statement. "Police had reason to believe the subject may have been armed with a knife."

The suspect was eventually taken into custody at about 12:30 p.m. No knife was found, police said.
