Fall River Bank Robber Gets Jail Time: Feds

A man who confessed to robbing 10 Massachusetts banks was sentenced Wednesday.

FALL RIVER, MA – A Revere man will serve prison time for robbing 10 banks, including one in Fall River, over the course of 19 days from December 2016 to January of this year, the U.S. Attorney's office said. Fred Mandracchia, 36, was sentenced Wednesday to over eight years in prison after pleading guilty to 10 counts of bank robbery.

Mandracchia was identified as the suspect in a robbery spree after robbing the Mechanics Cooperative Bank branch in Fall River, authorities said. Based on similarities in the robberies and the suspect's description in each, police believed him to be responsible for 10 robberies in the Boston area.

Mandracchia was arrested in Chelsea on Jan. 7 and confessed to robbing the banks, according to the USAO.
